EASTBOURNE 78 PRESTON 73
The Home Rinks skipped by Mike Taylor and Phil Garrett got off to a flying start and at 10 ends were 15 shots up, but the Preston rinks started to find their shots and the Home teams finished 11 shots up at the end.
The Away Rinks skipped by Ian Coombes and Steve Bain found it hard to find the line and weight on a fast swinging green and at 10 ends were 14 shots down. They then got their heads down and only lost by 6 shots at the end.
Good result lads, keep going for the next round.

Another great night of entertainment at the club last night. Members danced the night away to live music from The Likely Lads, a local duo who performed covers from 1960’s – 1980’s. As always our thanks go to Chris and her social team for all their work behind the scenes and to Peter & Billy behind the bar.
Watch out for our next events
EASTBOURNE ‘A’ 38 LANGNEY ‘B’ 29
Peter Jackson’s home rink got off to a flying start with a 16-4 lead at 10 ends and this increased to a 25-8 win. Malcolm Livesey had a very good game at lead setting the heads for the rest of his team.
The away rink skipped by Ian Coombes got of to a fine start only down 10-9 at 10 ends, but found it hard to maintain this level on a much faster running green and finished 21-13 down
EASTBOURNE ‘B’ 27 LANGNEY ‘B’ 38
At home Derek Dyer’s team found it hard to control the game with the Langney skip (G Selby) having a very good game and they lost 19-11.
The away rink skipped by Derek Wells had a hard struggle due to the fast green but came back only to lose 19-16.
EGHAM TROPHY (MIXED)
Next round the opponents are Horsham to be played on Sunday 27th October at 10am. Please come and support us.
Another busy summer season has come to an end.
We have played 22 matches against clubs in the area, plus two touring teams.
It was a great effort by members to cover fully all the games, of which we won 14 and lost 8.
We finished the summer period with two games against outside clubs Hampden Park and Saffron’s which brought together members ready for another winter period. Both were good days and it was great to see so many people having a good time together.
Our club is moving forward with your help.
There was a touch of Saturday Night Fever at the club last Saturday with another hugely successful 50’s 60’s 70’s Disco Night, once again fancy dress was optional and so many members entered into the spirit of the evening or should that be ‘Spirit in the Sky’ . . . Big thank you to all the volunteers who make these evenings such a success.

The Waitrose Community Matters in-store scheme offers a share of £1000 between three local organisations. The proportion of that share is decided by store customers placing a token in a voting box after their shop.
EDIBC have been chosen by Waitrose in Old Town Eastbourne as one of the three local organisations for the month of OCTOBER so any tokens placed in our box will help us purchase smaller (junior) size bowls for our junior section.
Our club is actively trying to encourage younger players to become involved in bowls and have recently welcomed a few local scout and cub groups to have a go, bowls is a great way to stay fit, make new friends and can be played by all ages
