Quiz master Steve has done it again, another brilliant quiz night attended by 120 eager quizzers. An interesting twist to one of the rounds with a ‘Taste the Difference’ section which was great fun!

It was a very close contest with team ‘I am Spartacus’ finishing 2nd by 1 point to team ‘Young & Hot’. Team ‘The Naughty Corner’ were their usual rowdy selves.

Big thank you not only to Steve for all the time and effort involved in putting the quiz together but also to Chris for her energy, time & organisation of the raffle, winners prizes & preparing the nibbles, Roger ‘the calculator’ without whom we wouldn’t know who’d won! those who helped set up the room and helped during the evening, Wendy for selling the raffle tickets, Peter & Julie behind the bar and to all those members who stayed behind afterwards to put all the tables & chairs back in place.

Great turn out for our Fish and Chip Bingo night last Friday, lots of banter, lovely supper, a very enjoyable evening all round. Thanks to ‘Caller Chris’ and everyone else who helped make the evening such a success.

New Years Eve Masquerade party at the club to welcome in the New Year.

Friday 13th, unlucky for some but not for our members who enjoyed a fantastic evening of music performed by Tom Powell an accomplished singer/guitarist who captivated his audience and had us all singing and dancing all night long. Among his song list for the night were songs spanning the decades from ‘Mack the Knife’, ‘Mr Bojangles’, hits by Elvis, Buddy Holly right up to Queen, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and an amazing rendition of Mika’s ‘Grace Kelly’.

Fantastic Xmas Quiz set by our very own quizmaster Steve. ‘Which country has 13 Santa’s?’ Was a question not many of the 25 teams got right! The club was full for an evening of Festive Facts and we all learnt something!
Thank you Steve for creating such brilliant quizzes, thanks too to Chris & Wendy for all the work they do behind the scenes preparing nibbles for the tables, raffle prizes & selling tickets etc and thanks also to Peter & Billy behind the bar and Roger for keeping count of all the scores, quite a job with so many teams especially when 2 of them had the same name

Friday night was a thrilling Race Night at the club with a crowd of 75 cheering on their horse in some exciting races.

We are very lucky to have such a committed Social Team who gave up their morning to prepare our function room for a Vintage Afternoon Tea yesterday, places were set for 50 members and their friends who all enjoyed a lovely spread as well as a ‘Teatime’ Quiz and a few simple games, ‘Toss the teabag’ ended in a play off and one lucky gentleman guessed exactly how many sweets were in the tea pot.
Our social events are becoming so popular that it is essential you buy your tickets as soon as you add your names to any list on the notice board.
