Goodbye 2021 – Hello 2022

Despite the restrictions we have had to live with this year our club is thriving,

The club has progressed to the later stages of both the men’s (Denny) and women’s (Yetton & Mason) National Team Competitions, the next rounds of the Denny and Yetton are on 8th January at 10am and the Mason is on 21st January at 10am.

Club competitions are well underway, the club leagues are running smoothly and our Ladder League is very popular and currently has 92 players split into 23 groups of 4.

We continue to support the local charity Children With Cancer Fund – Polegate by collecting old printer cartridges and in December we ran a festive mixed drive and raised £372.

Our social calendar has been busy with members enjoying a Race Night, Live Music from Tom Powell, 3 Quiz Nights and a very successful Christmas Fayre.

We look forward to some great bowling in 2022, good luck to everyone in all competitions and for all our members, full or social look out for Fish and Chip Bingo Night, a Barn Dance, an Afternoon Tea, another Race Night, a couple more Quizzes and a Spring Fayre all subject to any Covid Restrictions that may be in place at the time of each event.

Christmas Fayre Held at Club Saturday 27th November 2021

What a successful event – we have raised over £1000 for club funds.

A big thank you to everyone who gave generously to this event in so many different ways.

Huge thanks also to those who helped set up and man the various stalls, and also to all those people who came along and gave their support.

Grateful thanks too, to Michelle, Kim, Charlie and the bar staff who worked so hard keeping everyone fed and watered.

Without all of these people we could not have held this successful event.

Beatles Tribute in aid of Children With Cancer Fund – Polegate

On Saturday (7th March 2020) a local band, NOTHING IS REAL, entertained us for the 2nd year running with a fantastic evening of Beatles music. Their generosity and that of our members and friends continues to astound us as we raised £840 on the night for Children With Cancer Fund – Polegate  our Captain’s Charity of the Year. A raffle was held with 1st prize being the only ever authorised biography of the Beatles by Hunter Davies and 2nd prize was another book by the same author called The Beatles Lyrics and is the story behind their music. A big thank you to everyone involved in the evening, you know who you are.

“What’s On In March” . . .

Saturday 7th at 7pm is Beatles Tribute Night, £10 entry fee to include a buffet.  ‘Nothing Is Real’ are a popular local band who do not charge for playing their gigs so proceeds from the night will go to Children With Cancer Fund – Polegate who once again are our Captain’s Charity of the Year. Tickets are on sale from behind the bar.

Saturday 14th March is our Captains Charity Bowls Tournament. Entry fee £5.  This will be the same as last years massively successful event when 72 bowlers of all abilities played for the Captains Trophy and Captains Medal and the Club was buzzing all day. Mixed ability teams will be selected by Captain Peter. The event starts at 9.30am for the preliminary rounds followed by the knockout rounds in the afternoon. The bar and Restaurant will be open all day for refreshments. Social Members are more than welcome. All proceeds to Children With Cancer Fund – Polegate. Please register and pay the entry fee behind the bar.

Our ever popular Race Night returns on Friday 20th, 7:30pm.

F V A G I K M Y ???

Yesterday saw the club put on another beautiful Afternoon Tea, tables were laid with beautiful embroidered tablecloths and vintage china, members were served with a selection of sandwiches, scones & cakes and during the afternoon had a bit of fun with a quiz & a few table games. Toss the Teabag tested skill ? then everyone had to write the funniest telegram sentence using 8 letters taken randomly from the alphabet and using them in order so – F V A G I K M Y became Five Vicars Arresting Goats In Kinky Muddy Yfronts, hilarious. Well done to Chris and her team for a great time.
