Festive Mixed Drive

Festive fun at the club with 48 Bowling members taking part in the Xmas Drive.

All 12 teams had festive names and dressed in mufti.

Thank you Ralph for organising it.

Don’t forget there will be another Mixed Drive on New Years Day 2pm.

U25’s Inter County League

The county leagues under 25’s are doing very well in the Inter County League, sitting top of the table. Played 5 and won all 5. Freddie has played in all 5 games and has been picked to play for the County in the National Under 25’s double rink, this is the first time one of our juniors have been picked to play in this competition. What is very pleasing is that the top players have been asking the Manager for Freddie to be picked for their team.

Well done Freddie,

Dave Buttle
Junior Coach

London and Southern Counties Challenge Shield

EASTBOURNE 53  GRATTONS 82

Eastbourne tried some different players and positions this time to try and reverse the Denny Cup result, but they found it just as difficult to master the very fast green at Grattons.

The home rink skipped by Malcolm Goman had some success winning 18-11, but the other home rink skipped by Derek Wells found it more difficult against a good skip losing 14-25.

The away rinks skipped by Mike Taylor and Phil Garrett found the Grattons rinks very hard to find line and weight going down by 26 shots.

The club now needs to concentrate on the Sussex league and maintain our position in Division 1.

E.D.I.B.C. Ladies vs Men

There was a buzz in the club this afternoon as 24 of our Ladies played a match against 24 of our Men. It was so good to hear the friendly banter and laughter across the rinks and after 10 ends the Ladies were slightly ahead. As always, everything changed after tea and biscuits and the Men fought back to win overall by 17 points.

Denny Cup Result

EASTBOURNE 81 EGERTON PARK 74

The home rink skipped by M Taylor had a fairly even match until the 15th end, when they were able to increase pressure for a 20-15 win. Phil Garrett’s home rink had a more up and down game, but managed to come back from a 12 shot deficit to only lose 21-27.

The away rink skipped by S.Bain had a very steady game winning 15-13. The away rink skipped by I.Coombes got off to a slow start being 8-2 down at 5 ends, but fought back with some good bowls and some luck to win 25-19.

The third round is on Saturday 16th November at 10.00.am against Grattons.

Sussex County U25’s League

Congratulations to Freddie Cable who has played in the Sussex County U25’s League Team.

Last season he played well for them and this season he has played in both games.

With only 3 rinks in this mixed league to get picked, with all the U25’s available, is a great achievement for Freddie and our club.

Denny Cup

EASTBOURNE  78  PRESTON  73
The Home Rinks skipped by Mike Taylor and Phil Garrett got off to a flying start and at 10 ends were 15 shots up, but the Preston rinks started to find their shots and the Home teams finished 11 shots up at the end.
The Away Rinks skipped by Ian Coombes and Steve Bain found it hard to find the line and weight on a fast swinging green and at 10 ends were 14 shots down. They then got their heads down and only lost by 6 shots at the end.
Good result lads, keep going for the next round.
