Founder Members Coffee Morning

2019 is the 40th anniversary of our club opening and whilst working on our new website we found some old newspaper cuttings and memorabilia and thought it would be a nice idea to invite all our founder members, life members and those who had joined the club in that first year to a coffee morning to talk about their memories. Some members brought in their own photos and cuttings and having displayed everything on tables in our restaurant it proved an interesting morning with current members having a look and asking questions during their “Roll-up” tea break.

President’s Message

Eastbourne and District Indoor Bowls Club has undergone several improvements over the past couple of years that has seen the club membership grow significantly.

During the summer, the club website has been fully redesigned and modernised to better reflect our club status as one of the leading indoor bowls clubs in the South East of England. Our new web pages will allow everyone to see inside our wonderful bowls club.

May I take this opportunity to welcome each and every member in to the club and wish you all a pleasurable and successful year.

BDA praise for our Development Plan

Bowls Development Alliance Ltd

A message from John Hart, Development Manager

“Eastbourne and District Indoor Bowls club took up the Club Development Programme in May 2018, The Management Committee set about restructuring and bringing about a new lease of life to the club with support and guidance from the Club Development Programme. To date huge amounts of work and time has gone into securing a new long term lease, forming a new management committee, updating all policies and procedures, employing a new Centre Manager, recruitment drives and gaining further sponsorship which will only benefit the club. This has all been achieved in less than a year.

The management committee has clear outcomes and objectives from their regular meetings to ensure the club continues to drive forward.

The club has recruited well over 100 new members since we started working with them back in May 2018 and I can only see them going from strength to strength. Well done and good luck for the future.”

Captains Charity Raises £3,000

Members, friends and guests of Eastbourne & District Indoor Bowls Club based within Hampden Park have raised over £3,000 for this seasons Captains Charity, The Children With Cancer Fund, Polegate.

On 26th January, 72 Club bowlers of all levels of ability played in a very enjoyable Captains Charity Bowls Tournament. All Match fees, proceeds from bar and restaurant sales, raffle, tombola and auctions were donated with Barclays Bank generously matching the amount raised by raffle ticket sales.

In March the local Beatles tribute band “Nothing Is Real” played for free to a sold out concert in the Club. 120 members and guests enjoyed an excellent evening of nostalgia with all entrance money being donated, as well as proceeds from the raffle, tombola and auctions.
